Song of the day: The Beatles’ While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Song of the (Sun)day: Matt White’s Love.

Benjamin Zander has two infectious passions: classical music, and helping us all realize our untapped love for it — and by extension, our untapped love for all new possibilities, new experiences, new connections.

5 Things

I don’t really blog…which is a problem, since this is in fact a blog. So, in an effort to put up some verbage, I’m starting a weekly (or bi-weekly depending on how motivated I am) tradition called “5 Things”. I’m going to keep it open ended so I can change it up. One week it maybe 5 things I did this week or 5 things that made me laugh or 5 things learned. But, I think I’ll start it off with 5 Things I loved this week.

First, I’ll start off with something that actually happened last week. But it’s impact on me is still felt. Pink’s performance during the 2010 Grammy’s was spectacular. It was so beautiful, so simple (in that she didn’t have 1,000 dancers with her) and just so mesmerizing. If you haven’t seen it please follow the link and check it out.

Staying with music, another thing I loved this week was Matt Morris’ new album. I’ve been a fan of his since he was on the Mickey Mouse Club. Yes…I’m that girl. ;o) Recently he put out a new album and it’s just brilliant. But beyond the shear brilliancy of his album is how humbled he is by people’s reaction to it. He joined Justin Timberlake for the “Hope for Haiti Now” special for an amazing version of Hallelujah and it’s been on the tip of iTunes ever since.

This past week, I read two books. I don’t remember the last time I went through books so fast. And I was so mad at myself too! I have to wait until the fall for the third book…I”m not good with waiting. The books were The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. I have an online book club and one of my friends has been urging us to read them…and when I finally did, I knew anytime she would tell me to read something…I would. Check them out if you’re into that sort of thing…you know…books.

This year, I’m hoping to add to my photography portfolio more couples…well, more people really. I’ve got a ton of landscapes and me, and that’s not doing anyone a bit of help. I stumbled on this photographer who captures people the way I would like to in a very simple and perfect way. His name is Max Wanger and his portraits are stunning…in my opinion. Click through all his tabs, but really check out his “Love and Marriage” tab. Gorgeous.

And finally, the 5h thing that I loved this week has been running. I haven’t always love running…in fact, I’m still struggling to LOVE running…but I do love how I feel when I finish. That clarity in my lungs, the pride in accomplishing something…anything positive for me is an award onto itself. I’ve been talking about my marathon goals for the year…and now I finally have actual dates to these said marathon. My first (which will be a 1/2) is April 11th of this year. I got a lot of work to do so I don’t struggle as much during it…but that’s half the fun! :o)
